2013 and Beyond

As the year comes to a close, we rewind the tape a bit and reflect on everything that has happened in this past year, and begin looking forward to the year to come...and beyond.

ComingSoon has our first look at the three announced Pixar films that will follow after Monsters University this June, and I must say, it is quite thrilling to finally get a sense of what these films will look like.

The first image is concept art from Bob Peterson's The Good Dinosaur, which shows a boy sitting on a giant dino's head with a bright yellow sky in the background. It sure looks like Peterson is cooking up quite the film over in Emeryville.

The second is from Pete Docter's "inside the mind" film, reportedly entitled The Inside Out, and gives us a close-up look at the protagonist, a young girl, and the emotions inside her head, which will serve as characters in the film. Docter will no doubt blow us away once again just as he did with Monsters, Inc. and Up.

This final piece of artwork showcases Lee Unkrich's upcoming feature, which revolves around the Mexican holiday of Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead. Clearly, this is going to be one of Pixar's most vibrant, colorful, and (ironically) lively films ever.

So now we've got all these incredibly intriguing projects up ahead, but before they get here, let's enjoy this new year (and Monsters University). It's been a great year, and I wish you all the best in 2013!

Happy New Year from Pixar Corner!

Partysaurus Rex Coming Home with Monsters

Monsters, Inc. hit theaters in 3D just last week, so it's only natural that the film is going to be given a Blu-ray 3D release in February. Pixar Talk reports that Partysaurus Rex, the Toy Story Toon that played in front of Finding Nemo 3D in September, will be included this new Monsters Blu-ray release.

Although the short can already be viewed on the official Toy Story website, it's going to be great seeing it in full high-definition and, of course, in 3D. Just imagine that colorful bathtub over-flowing right into your living room. Now wouldn't that be awesome?

Bring Partysaurus and Monsters, Inc. home on Blu-ray 3D on February 19th!

Monsters, Inc. 3D - Now Playing!

Yet another Pixar re-release has arrived in theaters, and today the studio's beloved Monsters, Inc. gets its time to shine on the big screen once again, this time in breathtaking, eye-popping 3D.

In honor of the release, check out this featurette in which director Pete Docter tells you what you can expect to find when you go watch Monsters in 3D. By the looks of it, there is a 99% chance that you will not be disappointed!

See Mike and Sulley in all their glory while they're here in theaters, otherwise you'll have to wait until June to see them in the upcoming prequel Monsters University. I'm hearing some really good things about Monsters, Inc. 3D, so this is one re-release you won't want to miss!

Monstrous News

Monsters, Inc. hits theaters in 3D tomorrow, and Pixar fans are anxiously hoping that the ever-so-anticipated trailer for Monsters University will show up then. While we patiently wait, have a look at these MU tidbits that have been dropped in the past few days.

On Friday, the studio treated us to yet another still (pictured above) from the upcoming prequel on their Tumblr blog. The new image appears to be a continuation of the scene shown in one of the previous stills. Sulley seems to be having quite a bit of fun, but I'd say Mike isn't as happy about the situation.

Available now for pre-order is the latest Pixar "Art of" book, The Art of Monsters University. This book will no doubt be exploding with vibrant colors and superb artwork by the extremely talented team of artists at the  studio. The current cover art may or may not be the same by the time the book arrives in June - usually these books are given temporary covers when they are first made available to pre-order, but last year's Art of Brave had the same cover artwork from the very beginning, so only time will tell what will happen with this one.

Monsters University hits theaters June 21st, 2013, and the original film returns to theaters tomorrow, so don't miss out!

EW Reveals New MonstersU Images!

A website, two posters, and now two brand new stills from Monsters University fresh from the studio. But still no stinking trailer.

However, Pixar may be torturing us fans by not yet having released a new trailer (and not even mentioning when it'll pop up), but at least they're feeding us with small appetizers like these new images to ease the hunger for the extremely anticipated trailer.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the stills, and also talked with director Dan Scanlon, who gave brief explanations of what is happening in each of the images.

“They’re at a fraternity party, and this is Mike and Sulley getting off on the wrong foot a little bit,” he says of the first image (seen above). Mr. Scanlon also tells us that the creature Mike is clutching in his right arm while being lifted up by his furry rival is "the monster equivalent of a farm animal" and the university's mascot. The second image sees a young Mike arriving at MU on his very first day, eager to begin a new chapter in his life.

Be sure to read the full story over at EW, and look forward to Pixar's Monsters University this summer. In the meantime, Monsters, Inc. 3D hits theaters just next week, so don't miss out on this chance to get to see the original film in theaters 11 years after its original release!

Pixar Corner Gets Christmassy

Once again, the amazing Paul Robin has provided us with a fantastical new seasonal header for this blog.

In this year's Christmas logo, a snowman's head take the place of the usual Luxo ball. Who knows, maybe this snowman is relative of little Knick from Pixar's 1989 short film Knick Knack.

Big thank you to Paul Robin, who has also posted a new holiday-themed adventure on his blog - don't forget to check that out! Happy Holidays!

Pete Docter 'Mind' Film Gets Title - Unconfirmed

Pixar has announced so many upcoming projects lately that I'm starting to lose track of how many films they have in store for us. However, out of all their upcoming projects, Pete Docter's film that delves into the world of the human mind intrigues me the most. The film is yet to be given a title, but Bleeding Cool reports that the film is in fact called The Inside Out.

Bredon Connelly writes:

"We've now heard that the film is on the verge of getting an official title and that title is almost certainly going to be 'The Inside Out'. That title hasn't yet been cleared, but it's the one Pixar wants. Barring any problems with getting the name okayed, we can probably expect it to be announced soon."

Following Pixar's tradition of giving their films simple yet powerful titles, this title really excites me and makes me even more eager to find out more about this film. There are endless possibilities when crafting a movie about the human mind, even more so than there are when crafting one about monsters, I'd say. This is likely both a blessing and a curse for Docter and the Pixar crew; if the sky is the limit, where do you begin?

Hopefully Pixar decides to stick with this title, I quite like it. Look forward to an official announcement from the studio!

Finding Nemo Swims Onto Blu-ray!

Just when you thought your Christmas wishlist was complete, one of the most beloved animated films of all time arrives on Blu-ray in glorious high-definition.

If you watched Finding Nemo 3D in theaters back in September and were left dumbfounded, bewildered, and just plain bamboozled, then I suggest purchasing the new Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-ray of the film, which just so happens to include the 3D version of the film. If you're not that big on 3D but still love the film and would delight in owning it on Blu-ray, there's also the regular Collector's Edition.

This is a must-have for any Pixar fan, and for film fans in general. It's been said countless times before, but Finding Nemo is one beautiful-looking movie, so just imagine seeing that movie with pristine video quality and unbelievable audio.

Feel free to check out my review of Nemo's 3D re-release, and if you're planning on buying the film on Blu-ray, Disney Movie Rewards has a coupon which will save you $5 on your purchase, which is valid until the 19th of this month (though only in the US and Canada).

Speaking of December 19th, Monsters, Inc. 3D hits theaters in just 15 days, and the Nemo Blu-ray comes with a free movie admission to see it! Disney and Pixar released this TV spot today:

Finding Nemo is now available to own on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D (hooray)!

Monsters University Teaser Posters Hit Web!

The faces of millions of Pixar fanatics lit up like Christmas trees yesterday when the first teaser posters for the upcoming Monsters University showed up.

Above is the domestic teaser poster, a simplistic yet wonderful poster which, as A113Animation points out, "harkens back to the poster for the 2001 original". Below you can take a look at the equally marvelous international poster, which gives us a nice sneak peek at Mike and Sulley's dorm room at MU, as well as their rough, competitive relationship with each other as rivals.

Pixar always puts millions of little details into everything they do, and these posters are no exception. Look no further than the textbooks Mike is standing on for evidence of this, and if you look closely on the international poster, you'll see that the time on the alarm clock is 1:13 AM...

Monsters University, the anticipated prequel to Pixar's hit comedy Monsters, Inc. hits theaters in 202 days, but in the meantime, you can catch the original film in theaters (this time in 3D, of course) later on this month!

Mater Stars in Holiday TV Spot for Disneyland

As Christmas looms ever closer, everyone is beginning to get into the holiday spirit, including the Disneyland Resort. This new TV spot released earlier this month stars Cars' Mater posing as Santa Claus while being pulled by his team of reindeer - no, tractors...reintractors, as he flies over some of the newest parts the resort, including Cars Land, while he sings his own rendition of "Walking in a Winter Wonderland".

It's a nice little commercial, it sure makes me want to visit Anaheim; I know for a fact that Disneyland is gorgeous at Christmastime, this TV spot gives you just a small lick of everything that's in store.

Expect to see a new seasonal logo up on the blog soon! Christmas is just around the corner...

Let The Awards Season Begin!

A year is a surprisingly short amount of time, when you think about it. Just yesterday we were laying eyes upon the first "For Your Consideration" ads for Cars 2, and counting down the days to Brave. Here we are once again, anticipating the approaching awards season and hoping Pixar's latest feature film may be honored with some recognition and bring home some shiny statuettes.

Pixar have released their first FYC poster for Brave, and it is, not surprisingly, stunningly beautiful. The image in the poster is taken from the river scene in the film, which for me was one of the highlights of the movie.

Unfortunately, Pixar went home empty handed this past February at the Oscars; the marvelous La Luna was beat out in the Best Animated Short Film category by the equally dazzling Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, and Cars 2 failed to earn a nomination for Best Animated Film. This year, however, I hope will see better results for the studio at the Academy Awards; Brave was nothing short of spectacular, though I feel it is an extremely underrated film. It does have some pretty heavy competition for the Best Animated Film category though, with other brilliant masterpieces like Disney's Wreck-It Ralph and Laika's ParaNorman also standing with a fighting chance. If the award ends up going to another film, though, Brave has a more than strong chance at winning the awards for both Best Original Song ("Touch the Sky", anyone?) and Best Original Score.

One thing is certain; whether it wins anything or not, Brave is an incredible motion picture and it doesn't need an award to prove it.

'Monsters, Inc.' Coming to Blu-ray 3D!

This news has gone rather unnoticed, but it looks like Pixar's 2001 hit Monsters, Inc. will be arriving in the Blu-ray 3D format sometime soon, although we have no idea when exactly this will be.

Amazon has a 5-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition listed for pre-order, and Disney Movie Shop has also put up an offer which will save you $8 on your purchase of this Blu-ray combo pack. However, both sites claim that this release is "coming soon", but neither one states a fixed release date. I guess we can expect this to be out sometime after Monsters, Inc. 3D has hit theaters, likely around January. One thing's for certain though, the Blu-ray 3D of the film will be out by February 18, 2013, which is the date that Disney Movie Shop's offer expires.

No word on whether or not this pack will come with new bonus features or not, but chances are that it won't, but Pixar could always pleasantly surprise us.

I do not yet own Monsters, Inc. on Blu-ray, so I'll hopefully be able to pick up this release. Be sure to also check out A113Animation's review of Monsters, Inc. in 3D, it'll give you an idea of what to look forward to in the classic comedy's re-release.

Finding Nemo Blu-ray Trailer Hits Web

With Brave and the Pixar Short Films Collection - Volume 2 now out, the Blu-ray release of Pixar's beloved Finding Nemo is just on the horizon. Yes, at long last we'll be able to own every single one of the studio's films on Blu-ray, as the 2003 aquatic adventure remains the only one to not yet be available in the format.

Disney and Pixar posted the trailer for this Blu-ray release:

You'll be able to purchase a 3-disc Collector's Edition (two Blu-ray discs and the DVD), or the 5-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition (Blu-ray 3D, two Blu-rays, DVD & digital copy), much like with Brave.

I'll be picking up the 3D version as this truly is the perfect film for the 3D format and I was blown away when I saw Nemo in 3D back in September (feel free to have a look at my review here).

Finding Nemo arrives on Blu-ray December 4th, and Up, which was the first ever Pixar movie to be released in theaters in 3D, will also be available for the first time on Blu-ray 3D on that same day.

Brave Hits Store Shelves!

And once again, we have come full circle. Yet another Pixar film has made it onto Blu-ray and DVD so we can all now enjoy it from the warmth of our homes and put in up on that shelf next to Pixar classics from years past. Brave, the thirteenth feature film to come out of the animation power house, has finally arrived on home video.

If you haven't yet made the jump from DVD to Blu-ray and don't plan on doing so anytime soon, you can purchase the standard DVD of the film, but keep in mind that you won't get a whole lot of special features with this version (just the new Legend of Mor'du short, La Luna, and the audio commentary).

For those who do own a Blu-ray player, you can get either the 3-disc Collector's Edition Blu-ray combo pack, which includes the the Blu-ray disc of the film, an entire Blu-ray disc dedicated entirely to bonus material, and the regular DVD. If you want to own the film in 3D, then you can get the 5-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition, which includes everything that the 3-disc version has, plus the 3D Blu-ray disc and the digital copy.

Retail stores often offer an extra bonus item the first few days that a film is on sale. Best Buy has a neat steelbook case and a nice little lunchbox, and Walmart is offering a cute Angus plush toy. Target's Digibook version includes a 32-page storybook of the film.

In the US, the DVD is selling for $19.99, the 3-disc Collector's Edition goes for $22.99, and the 5-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition is $27.99 (at most stores).

Also available today is Volume 2 of the Pixar Short Films Collection; a must have for all fanatics of the studio.

Will you be getting either one of these releases?

Pixar Main Building Renamed After Steve Jobs

Last year, Pixar opened up a brand new building on their campus in Emeryville and titled it Brooklyn. However, as far as I'm concerned, the original building built in 2000 has never had an actual name - that is, until now.

This building will from now on be referred to as The Steve Jobs Building. Mr. Jobs was known to most as the head of Apple, but he was also the co-founder of Pixar and helped the company kick off when he bought it from Lucasfilm back when it was called the Graphics Group, and was CEO at the studio until Disney acquired it in 2006. It's been one year and one month since Steve Jobs passed away, and the company that he set the foundation for is now paying tribute to him by renaming their main facility after him.

Jobs had an integral part in designing this building, so this is really an absolutely appropriate and touching way to honor the late innovator. He may not be walking this Earth with us anymore, but Steve Jobs lives on in the legacy he left behind, not only at Apple, but at our favorite animation studio in the world.

New Mystery Pixar Film Due In 2015

A short while ago, the Walt Disney Studios unveiled their upcoming release schedule, which included not only some approaching entries into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also an all-new project from Pixar - but is it really all-new?

The press release didn't give any title for this upcoming Pixar feature; it simply stated that a new untitled animated film from Pixar is scheduled for release on November 25th, 2015. If this release date actually remains untouched until 2015, then it mark the first ever year in which the studio releases two new movies. Of course, this was originally supposed to happen in 2011, but has been postponed over and over again each year. Only time will tell whether 2015 will be the year or not.

While this new project is now set for late 2015, Lee Unkrich's new Día de los Muertos film, however, still has not been given a release date - unless, of course, that this "new" film is in fact Lee's film. After all, Día de los Muertos takes place at just about the same time as Halloween, so November 25 wouldn't be that far away from the holiday itself.

So whether this is the new Lee film or a brand-new one, we can't be sure yet, but hopefully Disney and Pixar will clear it up for us real soon. Let's keep our fingers crossed, because I don't know about you, but this is going to be bugging me until I know for sure.

Home Video Update - Trailers for November Releases

Time flies, and we're already more than halfway through October, which means that pretty soon it'll be November and both Brave and the Pixar Short Films Collection - Volume 2 will be out on Blu-ray and DVD!

Pixar recently released one short trailer for each of next month's releases on their official YouTube channel. The one for Brave may contain certain bits of footage that you may want to avoid if you haven't already seen the movie. In the trailer for the Shorts Collection, you can listen to a couple of Pixar veterans talk about their early short films, which will be included on the new release.

Expect to see these on store shelves on November 13, right before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season!

Will you be getting Brave or the Shorts Collection - Vol. 2?

New Seasonal Header: Halloween 2012

This week, I put up this year's brand-new Halloween header for the blog, as you may have noticed. Paul Robin, the fantastic artist that provides all the seasonal headers for Pixar Corner, never fails to impress with his artwork.

In last year's Halloween logo, the classic Pixar luxo ball was replaced by a jack o' lantern with the face of Mike Wazowski. This year, however, the ball seems to have acquired a couple of pimples, a large, ugly, crooked nose, and to top it all off, a pointy witch's hat. Perhaps it is taking on the form of the witch from this year's Brave.

Paul Robin has also put up a new adventure on his personal blog, where he and his friend Timmy Worm dress up as the Dynamic Duo! Be sure to check out his blog and suggest your very own Paul Robin adventure!

We hope you like the header; look forward to seeing even more phenomenal Paul Robin logos on this blog very soon!

What will you be dressing up as for Halloween this year?

Watch 'Partysaurus Rex' Online!

After premiering on the Disney Channel Monday evening, Partysaurus Rex was uploaded to Disney's official website the following day, much to the delight of Pixar fanatics across the globe.

If for some, strange, bizarre reason you haven't gone and seen Finding Nemo 3D, and therefore have not seen the short, then now is the perfect time to enjoy it in the warmth of your home right on your computer.

You can join the party on Disney's official website, (or the official Toy Story website), but if you're outside of the US and Canada, watch it right here via Daily Motion (thanks A113Animation).

Boo! 'Toy Story of Terror' Coming to TV in 2013!

A work-in-progress logo for the upcoming Toy Story television special

Back in June, we were told that two new Toy Story TV specials (along with three Toy Story Toons) were being worked on at Pixar, but not much details were given on the projects. So far, we've gotten the fantastic short Partysaurus Rex, but we have yet to find out what the other two Toons will be and when they will be released. What about the specials? Well...

Animation World Network dropped the news yesterday that the first of the two television specials, scheduled for October of next year, would be, of course, a Halloween special featuring the beloved characters from the franchise. The special is entitled Toy Story of Terror! and will involve the toys going on a road trip that soon goes awry, leading to a catastrophic turn of events following the disappearance of one of the toys.

It sure sounds like it will be a ton of fun, and what's great is that it will be a whole lot longer than a regular short, so there is plenty of room for almost any clever idea that the minds at Pixar can dream up.

The special will probably air on either the Disney Channel or on ABC; or both. It may even be posted online soon afterwards, who knows. Maybe it could also eventually get a home video release, like some of DreamWorks' television specials have gotten in the past.

The only bad thing: we'll have to patiently wait until next Halloween to see Toy Story of Terror!

Check Out Awesome Monsters University Website!

Every once in a while, I am reminded of why I have grown to love Pixar so much.

The studio is kicking off their (brilliant) viral marketing campaign for their 2013 release with an absolutely amazing website for Monsters University, the academy that monsters Mike and Sulley attend in the prequel to Pixar's smash hit from 2001, Monsters, Inc.

The website makes you think that MU really is a real, functioning college, and is jam-packed with incredibly detailed (and clever) pages on just about everything you need to know about the school. You can learn about the campus, the university's history, see who the teachers and mentors are, decide which clubs you should join...the list continues. The site is also wonderfully topped off with gorgeous visuals and images from the school grounds.

You'll even find a detailed map of the campus, along with a Monsters U store, where you can actually purchase t-shirts, hoodies, hats, mugs, and even a spiffy MU pennant via the Disney Store. Of course, t-shirts and hoodies are also available with four sleeves for the multi-armed.

Everything on the website is completed and detailed, and there is plenty of material to keep you entertained for hours. That, my friends, is something you only get from a studio like Pixar.

I assume we'll soon be getting a new trailer for Monsters University, possibly playing in front of Disney's Wreck-It Ralph in theaters. In the meantime, enjoy all that the sweet new MU website has to offer!

Monsters University hits theaters June 21, 2013.

The Future of Pixar

I recently published this article over at Disney Dose, be sure to check them out for the latest Disney-related news.

~

After the release of last year’s Cars 2 (Pixar’s first feature film to not receive critical acclaim), many people began to question, “Could Pixar possibly be losing their touch?”
I’m here to try and silence those with a profound belief that the beloved animation studio truly is “dead”.

Well, first let’s do some brief analysis. Granted, Cars 2 wasn’t the finest film to ever come out of the studio, but I personally believe that it was a very fun and enjoyable film. I know many may disagree with me, but the truth is, Cars 2 could have been a lot worse, and I’d say it turned out alright considering all the production problems it went through. And this has been said countless times before by other Pixar fanboys, but despite that it was probably Pixar’s weakest effort so far, it was a heck of a lot better than a lot of the junk we get from Hollywood these days. Plus, this has been the studio’s only so-called “bad” film out of the thirteen they’ve produced; how, again, does that mean that they’re “losing their touch”? Would anyone mind clearing that up for me?
Then there was this year’s Brave. A mighty fine film if you ask me, but somehow it didn’t seem to please critics and some audience members as much as, say, Up or WALL-E. It scored a solid 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, but would it have gotten the same response had Cars 2 never happened? I loved Brave and thought it was worthy of standing up there with previous Pixar classics, but I suspect that critics and audiences alike are becoming more biased when it comes to Pixar because of the dreaded Cars sequel. Yes, it’s a messed-up notion, but it sure seems like that’s what is happening.

Now let’s take a look at Pixar’s list of upcoming projects:
Monsters University – June 21st, 2013
The Good Dinosaur – May 30th, 2014
“The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind” – June 19th, 2015
“The Untitled Pixar Movie About Día de los Muertos” – TBA

Now, in order to prove my point, I’ll briefly go over each of these upcoming films and explain how there is little chance that Pixar will be running out of good material anytime soon.
Monsters University – Well, the original Monsters, Inc. has always been one of my absolute favorite films from Pixar, since the very first time I saw it (and I was two back then). I can’t see why this shouldn’t be pure Pixar magic, seeing as the teaser trailer released in June was brilliant, so imagine just what there will be to marvel at in the actual film. Furthermore, this is a chance to revisit some of the most beloved animated characters in film history and discover just how they transformed their rivalry into friendship. Sure, it sounds a tiny bit like Toy Story, but I think the filmmakers would have realized if they were making a remake of their very first feature except this time with monsters.
The Good Dinosaur – Dozens of people have been going on about how ever since Disney bought them back in ’06, Pixar has been producing a significantly higher amount of sequels and is no longer cooking up more of the fabulous originals that we’ve grown to love so much. Well, in case you’re one of the people who hasn’t already heard about this project, get a load of this. Directed by none other than the hilarious Bob Peterson (co-director of Up), The Good Dinosaur tells the story of what our Earth would have turned out like if the life-changing asteroid that supposedly took out the dinosaurs had never struck the planet. Definitely not a sequel/prequel of any sort, and it sure sounds like a gosh darn interesting andoriginal story.
“The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind” – Peter Docter (Monsters, Inc.Up) is back in the director’s chair for this one, and if that isn’t enough to get you to go and watch it, this new tale will immerse you in the complex and mystifying world of the human mind. Docter and the Pixar crew could literally go anywhere with this, much like with the original Monsters, where possibilities were endless. One thing’s for sure though; you will be blown away by whatever they come up with, and it will be unlike anything you have ever witnessed – so get ready.
“The Untitled Pixar Movie About Día de los Muertos” Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich will helm this highly-ambitious project that “delves into the vibrant Mexican holiday of Día de los Muertos”, which will be released presumably sometime around 2016. Lee proved to us two years ago that he can successfully lead a spectacular film across the finish line, so I have very high hopes for this one. An interview with John Lasseter revealed that one of the film’s central themes will be family, but at the same time it could turn out to be Pixar’s darkest, spookiest film to date, since one of it’s central themes is death. Unkrich cleared up recently, however, that Mexico has “a very different view of death than the American one…It’s not spooky. It’s celebratory.”, so I guess only time will tell what this movie will turn out like, but expect nothing less than a total masterpiece.

Well if you ask me, that’s one heck of a schedule. Monsters in college, dinosaurs, and exploring both the human mind and the holiday of Día de los Muertos? Count me in. We haven’t seen any of these movies yet, but I just really, strongly, immensely feel that assuming Pixar is out of gas when they have all this in production is a tad silly. Don’t you?

Extended Look at 'Partysaurus Rex'

This weekend will mark Finding Nemo 3D's third weekend in theaters. You can now watch a brand new clip from Partysaurus Rex, the short that is currently preceding Nemo in cinemas.

If you haven't had the chance to catch Partysaurus Rex just yet and don't wish to spoil the surprise, I'd suggest avoiding this clip for now, but it's up to you. It is, after all, a very fun clip, and it sets the stage for the rest of the short, which explodes with fun before long.

Unfortunately, embedding has been disabled for the video, so check it out on YouTube.

Partysaurus Rex is now playing in theaters alongside Finding Nemo 3D.

Finding Nemo 3D @ the Box Office

Finding Nemo 3D has been playing in North American theaters for two weekends now, and it sure looks like the classic animated film has brought a couple people out to see it.

On its opening weekend, Nemo 3D grossed  $16.7 million, and nabbed the No. 2 spot at the box office for that weekend, behind Resident Evil: Retribution. That was in North America; it earned $5.1 million in a total of seven different foreign markets. It has had the weakest opening for a 3D re-release this year, however. This weekend, it landed in the No. 4 spot with $9.6 million.

Hopefully Nemo manages to gross a little more during its brief return to theaters before it finally arrives on Blu-ray.

Review: Finding Nemo 3D Is Astonishing

Well, it's been a week since I headed over to the theater to check out the latest Pixar 3D re-release, so I'd say it's time to post my review.

Where do I begin? I was very, very excited to see Finding Nemo 3D from the moment it was announced; the film remains to this day one of my favorite movies of all time, so getting the chance to experience it in theaters once again more than nine years after its initial release was a dream come true for me. If it hadn't been flawlessly converted into 3D, I would have paid the price of admission nonetheless. There's just something special about going to see a movie on the big screen. Especially when that movie is a true masterpiece.

The films remains the exact same classic that was released almost a decade ago; same story, characters, and touching message. One of the major highlights of Nemo has always been the characters that carry the story. Every single one of them in endearing and funny in their own way; you love them from the start and root for them immensely until the very end. They make for a very entertaining film, and you can't help but smile when you see them on screen. Finding Nemo also packs quite the emotional punch, as many of Pixar's films do. Despite the fact that I've seen the film countless times before, I found myself on the verge of tears watching it last week. This movie is more than just a cute little fish story, a lot more.

Finding Nemo truly is the perfect film for the 3D format. It really is. It has everything a 3D movie should have, and it uses 3D very effectively, without ever exaggerating it in a way that it becomes annoyingly distracting (Monsters vs. Aliens comes to mind). After ten minutes or so, you'll have become oblivious to everything around you because you'll be so ridiculously immersed in both the gorgeous underwater world of the film and its story. The characters are right there in front of you, and you follow them on this unbelievable journey that becomes even more more unbelievable after you encounter three vegan sharks, a vicious anglerfish, a school of impressionist moonfish, a forest of jellyfish, a surfer-dude sea turtle, and a majestic blue whale. There is a sense of depth throughout the entire film, giving the magnificent illusion that you really are in this beautiful aquatic world. You can see all these little particles peacefully floating around in the water, and it makes the experience all the more magical. Bottom line, Finding Nemo is the film to see in 3D. So if you haven't already gone and seen it, hurry up and get your butt to the theater.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you're hesitating on whether or not you should spend money on going to the theater to see a film that you've probably already seen a million times before, don't. Finding Nemo 3D is worth every penny, and I am dead serious. It is easily the best film I have ever seen in 3D, and heck, even without the 3D it's an insanely beautiful film with an insanely beautiful story. Plus, you'll even get to see the new short Partysaurus Rex, which is an absolute blast (stay tuned for a review).

So I'll leave it at this: go see Finding Nemo 3D, you will not regret it.

Sweet 'Partysaurus Rex' Poster!

Pixar's new short, Partysaurus Rex (the latest and probably wildest of the Toy Story Toons) is now playing in theaters before Finding Nemo 3D, and if you haven't already, I highly suggest you go check it out, because not only is it insanely fun, but it looks spectacular in 3D.

This colorful and vibrant poster for the short was released online this week. Mark Walsh, the director of the short also posted it onto Twitter. It does an excellent job of capturing the wackiness and craziness of the short film. It's a very creative poster, and even has a teeny Easter egg in the text at the bottom. Emeryville, as you may have heard, is the town in which Pixar's main campus is located. You can also the the Pixar Canada logo there at the bottom.

I'll have my reviews for both Partysaurus Rex and Finding Nemo 3D up soon, but for now, go check out both in theaters!

Finding Nemo 3D Now In Theaters!

The wait is over folks. More than nine years after its original release in theaters, Pixar's classic Finding Nemo has returned to theaters after being converted to 3D. This marks the first Pixar 3D re-release after the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 double feature in 2009. Also, Partysaurus Rex, the third in the Toy Story Toons series, is now playing alongside Nemo 3D in theaters.

You might be wondering if it's worth paying to go see a film that you've likely seen many times before, with the only difference being that it's playing in 3D this time. You might even be one of those people that find 3D overrated and may see no point whatsoever in all these re-releases that we've been getting lately. However, this is Finding Nemo we're talking about, one of the most visually-stunning films to ever come from Pixar - and quite possibly one of the most visually-stunning films that have ever been made in general. There's nearly no doubt in my mind that this film, with all its aquatic settings and vibrant colors, would look absolutely breathtaking in 3D.

So my advice to you would simply be: go see it.

Finding Nemo 3D Premire Pics

As Finding Nemo returns to theaters (this time in 3D, of course) tomorrow, the premiere took place on Monday at the El Capitan theater. Check out some pictures from the event below.

John Lasseter (executive producer) and Andrew Stanton (writer/director)

Willem Dafoe (voice of Gill), Albert Brooks (voice of Marlin), and John Lasseter (executive producer)

Allison Janney (voice of Peach) and Andrew Stanton (writer/director)

As you can see, many of the voice actors from the film where present to see the classic undersea adventure in the new format, as well as director Andrew Stanton and the big boss himself, John Lasseter.

Don't miss out on Finding Nemo 3D during its short run in theaters! Even if you skipped Beauty and the Beast,  The Phantom Menace, and Titanic, this is one re-release that you must see (or should I say, sea)!

Must Watch: Paths to Pixar

Occasionally, when I find myself bored, I visit Pixar's official website (which was recently updated) just for the heck of it, and quite often accidentally end up stumbling upon something that really grabs me.

If you're a fan of the bonus features on Pixar's home video releases, chances are that you've seen one or two episodes from the fantastic "Paths to Pixar" series. Each episode focuses on a different type of occupation at the Pixar studios, and includes interviews with several Pixarians who have that particular job. They explain what they do for a living, and what lead them to what they do at the studio for a living, and also often give you some expert advice. It really is fascinating to hear each individual's story, and you'll also likely pick up some inspiration while listening to these Pixarian's wise words.

You can check out a bunch of "Paths to Pixar" episodes over at Pixar's official website.

Monsters, Inc. 3D: First Trailer

Just a couple of days after the first one-sheet for Monsters, Inc. 3D arrived, the very first trailer for the upcoming re-release has hit the web. Check it out below.

While I must admit that I am a tad more excited about Finding Nemo's 3D re-release than I am for this (Nemo is more of a 3D kind of movie, in my opinion), I will no doubt go see the Pixar classic in theaters once again this December. I was two years old when it originally hit theaters in 2001, hence I don't remember it very well, so this is a wonderful opportunity to relive the experience of watching the film I know and love on the big screen, this time in fabulous 3D. Plus, it also serves as good preparation for the prequel, which will premiere just six months after MI 3D. And the door chase sequence in the film will without a doubt look stunning in the third dimension.

Look for Monsters, Inc. 3D in theaters December 19 (or January 18, 2013 if you're in the UK)!

Finding Nemo Set To Be Spectacular In 3D

This Finding Nemo 3D featurette was recently posted online, and after watching it, I am probably ten times more excited to see the classic animated film in cinemas next month.

Watch as Andrew Stanton, John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, and other Pixarians talk about how Nemo is "the perfect film in 3D".

When I first heard about the Finding Nemo 3D re-release, I knew right from the start that the entire film would look breathtaking in the 3D format. But the thought about the "particulate matter" found in the ocean that John Lasseter talks about in the video had never crossed my mind. Nemo was a beautiful-looking film before being converted to 3D, so expect to be blown away by it when it returns to theaters in the third dimension.

"Sea it like never before" on September 14.

Partysaurus Rex: New High-Res Stills

Two pics from the upcoming Pixar short film, Partysaurus Rex, were released online the other day, and were brought to us in good ol' high-resolution. Everyone loves a great image that you can zoom in on without it getting pixelated, am I right?

The first of the two new stills (pictured above) showcases a handful of Bonnie's bathtub toys, surrounded by heaps of foamy bubbles. These new toys fit right in the vibrant and colorful Toy Story universe.

The second features the majority of Bonnie's toys all in a circle formation, excluding Mr. Potato Head and Rex, the star of the short, who are both in the middle. Maybe Potato Head is giving the timid tyrannosaurus a little talking-to. After all, the walking tater does have quite a mouth on him - but luckily it's removable.

This second image has been my desktop wallpaper for the past couple of days.

See the new Toy Story Toon, Partysaurus Rex, in theaters September 14 when it plays in front of Finding Nemo 3D.
