'Brave' Easter Eggs: Where Were They Hidden?

Over the years, fans of Pixar have grown quite fond of the little "Easter eggs" that the studio hides in their films, which can make watching one of their films all the more exciting.

Some of these hidden surprises occur in maybe just one film, but others have grown to become traditional, legendary Pixar Easter eggs. These include some sort of reference to an upcoming film from the studio, and the famed Pizza Planet truck, which made its first appearance in 1995 with Toy Story and has appeared in every Pixar film since (excluding The Incredibles).

Pixar has not forgotten their little traditions in this year's Brave, although that's what you might think during your first time watching the film. After all, how are you supposed to put a pizza delivery truck into a story set in medieval Scotland? The Easter eggs in Brave are hidden very well, so Pixar has released official images and descriptions revealing to us where both the Pizza Planet truck and Sulley from next year's Monsters University appear in the movie.

ANCIENT DELIVERY
The Witch, an eccentric crone disguised as a woodcarver specializing in whittling wooden bear figurines and conjuring haphazard spells, showcases her mysterious and inexplicable knowledge of the future with a carved figurine of the infamous Pizza Planet truck, an iconic delivery vehicle that’s appeared in nearly every full-length feature film from Pixar Animation Studios since 1995’s Toy Story. Disney•Pixar’s Brave is in theaters now.

NO MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET
A carving of Sulley, the lovable blue monster slated to return to the big screen in 2013’s Monsters University, appears on a piece of wood in the home of the Witch, an eccentric crone and woodcarver in Disney•Pixar’s epic action adventure Brave, in theaters now.

Still no word on where A113 shows up in the film, but we know it is there, as director Mark Andrews confirmed so a few months ago. If you found it, let us know in the comments!

Classic 'Easter Eggs' to Return in Brave

Pixar is known to infuse little hidden 'Easter eggs' into all of their films, which makes watching a Pixar movie even more exciting.

Sometimes, we get little glimpses at characters from upcoming films. For example, Monsters, Inc. had a hidden Nemo, Lotso from TS3 made a discrete appearence in Up, as did Cars 2's Finn McMissile in Toy Story 3. Cars 2 also had 'car-ified' versions of Merida, Elinor, Fergus, and the triplets from Brave.

Pixar also has some other hidden goodies that their fans have grown to love looking for in the films, such as the mysterious code, A113, the Pizza Planet truck, which first appeared in Toy Story, and John Ratzenberger's voice. Mark Andrews has confirmed that all of these will make an appearence in this year's Brave.

What's intriguing is that Brave is set in Medieval Scotland; back when pizza delivery trucks didn't exist. However, back at D23 Expo last year, John Lasseter himself stated:

"Here's the challenge for all of you; Brave. Medieval Scotland. Try to find the Pizza Planet truck there!"

Now, Bleeding Cool talked with Brave director Mark Andrews recently, and here's what Mr. Andrews had to say on the subject:

"Yes, everything is in here. Everything. All of the typical things, those little insider jokes are all in the movie. You’ve got hours and hours hours with the Blu-ray to look for them. There it is! But it’s right there, yeah.

John Ratzenberger’s Scottish accent is good, it’s not bad. He had a couple of goes at it, but he got there. He’s one of the guards in the background. His voice is in there but if you can’t pick him out we’ve done our job and nailed it."

So it seems that John Ratzenberger's role in Brave won't be as big as some of his previous Pixar voices, such as Hamm in the Toy Story trilogy and P.T. Flea in A Bug's Life. But at least Pixar's keeping up tradition by including John's voice once again.

As for the Pizza Planet truck, I am not sure how they'll have it in there. A rock or cloud shaped like the truck? A Pizza Planet wagon or cart? I guess we'll have to wait until June 22 to find out.

The Real Pizza Planet Truck - Finished!

A couple of months back we heard about a group of students from California with a seemingly impossible mission: recreating the iconic Pizza Planet Truck and take it all across the state. No big deal.

Well, it looks like the "recreating the truck" part is complete, because the crew recently posted a picture of the finished Pizza Delivery Shuttle on their blog. And, boy, does it look fantastic!!! I bet Pixar is going to be impressed!

These guys made sure they tackled everything - down to the last tiny detail. This extremely accurate replica of the Pizza Planet Truck includes even the three Aliens from Toy Story dangling at the front seat, and the lettering "YO" on the rear.

I can't wait to see this thing travel all the way to the Pixar Studios in Emeryville. It's going to be spectacular!

Be sure to check out the official "Road to Pixar" website!

The only difference I can find between the truck from the Pixar films and this recreation is that this one, rather than being filthy and rusted like the film version, is nice and shiny. But, who knows? Maybe it will look filthy and rusted by the end of the trip!

Real-Life Pizza Planet Truck Coming Soon!

This is unbelievable. We recently got a life-size replica of the famous house from Up, and now, we are actually getting a life-size replica of the one and only Pizza Planet Truck!!!

A group of students from California are working on a very interesting project called The Road to Pixar. First, they are going to replicate the iconic "Pizza Delivery Shuttle", but then, (wait for it), they're going to take it on a roadtrip up the state of California, all the way to Emeryville, the home of Pixar! Man, I wish I could come along with them...

Along the way, they're going to be interviewing groups of people of all ages about how Pixar's films have affected their lives, and they're going to film the entire making of the truck, along with the trip and interviews.

And the best thing is, you can help them! On their website, you can choose the amount of money you wish to give, and you get something in return as well. A minimum of $5 will get you your name on the credits of their film, whereas $1000 will earn you the credit of executive producer. There are a whole bunch of other rewards and perks, which you can check out here.

Also on their website, you can check out loads of awesome videos of the work they've been doing on the truck, read about all the members of their team, and contact them.

This is going to be one heck of a project. If you live somewhere in California, be sure to be on the look out for the Pizza Planet Truck!
