'Toy Story of TERROR' Coming to Blu-ray in August

At long last, some Pixar news!

Last October, Pixar premiered their first ever television special, Toy Story of Terror, to which audiences reacted quite warmly. For the past few months, fans have been wondering when the special will be available to own on home media, and we now have our answer.

The 22-minute special will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on August 19 and will be stuffed with plenty of bonus features, including the three existing Toy Story Toons short films; Hawaiian Vacation (2011, directed by Gary Rydstrom), Small Fry (2011, directed by Toy Story of Terror director Angus McLane), and Partysaurus Rex (2012, directed by Mark Walsh).

All three Toy Story Toons are already available on home media (Hawaiian Vacation on the Cars 2 Blu-ray/DVD and Pixar Short Films Collection: Vol. 2, which also includes Small Fry, and Partysaurus Rex on the Blu-ray re-release of Monsters, Inc.), though it's nice to see that they'll all be together on the same disc, and fans who haven't been able to get a hold of these shorts previously can now get them all in just one purchase.

Other extras on the Blu-ray set include faux vintage commercials for some the toys featured in Toy Story of Terror, similar to this Lotso one released as part of the marketing campaign for Toy Story 3:

The DVD will come with all the same bonus features as the Blu-ray excluding  the deleted scenes and editor introductions, and the Disney Movies Anywhere app will have an exclusive feature with Mr. Pricklepants as well as an additional deleted scene.

The TV special itself is an absolute blast (you can read my review here), but all the bonus material really makes this set worth picking up. Commentaries, deleted scenes - what more could you ask for?

Finally, Pixar released this trailer for the upcoming Blu-ray release, which gives us a sneak peek at some of the faux toy commercials included on the set.

This is a must-own for any Pixar or animation fan, so mark your calendars - Toy Story of Terror hits store shelves August 19!

Partysaurus Rex Coming Home with Monsters

Monsters, Inc. hit theaters in 3D just last week, so it's only natural that the film is going to be given a Blu-ray 3D release in February. Pixar Talk reports that Partysaurus Rex, the Toy Story Toon that played in front of Finding Nemo 3D in September, will be included this new Monsters Blu-ray release.

Although the short can already be viewed on the official Toy Story website, it's going to be great seeing it in full high-definition and, of course, in 3D. Just imagine that colorful bathtub over-flowing right into your living room. Now wouldn't that be awesome?

Bring Partysaurus and Monsters, Inc. home on Blu-ray 3D on February 19th!

Watch 'Partysaurus Rex' Online!

After premiering on the Disney Channel Monday evening, Partysaurus Rex was uploaded to Disney's official website the following day, much to the delight of Pixar fanatics across the globe.

If for some, strange, bizarre reason you haven't gone and seen Finding Nemo 3D, and therefore have not seen the short, then now is the perfect time to enjoy it in the warmth of your home right on your computer.

Extended Look at 'Partysaurus Rex'

This weekend will mark Finding Nemo 3D's third weekend in theaters. You can now watch a brand new clip from Partysaurus Rex, the short that is currently preceding Nemo in cinemas.

If you haven't had the chance to catch Partysaurus Rex just yet and don't wish to spoil the surprise, I'd suggest avoiding this clip for now, but it's up to you. It is, after all, a very fun clip, and it sets the stage for the rest of the short, which explodes with fun before long.

Sweet 'Partysaurus Rex' Poster!

Pixar's new short, Partysaurus Rex (the latest and probably wildest of the Toy Story Toons) is now playing in theaters before Finding Nemo 3D, and if you haven't already, I highly suggest you go check it out, because not only is it insanely fun, but it looks spectacular in 3D.

This colorful and vibrant poster for the short was released online this week. Mark Walsh, the director of the short also posted it onto Twitter. It does an excellent job of capturing the wackiness and craziness of the short film. It's a very creative poster, and even has a teeny Easter egg in the text at the bottom. Emeryville, as you may have heard, is the town in which Pixar's main campus is located. You can also the the Pixar Canada logo there at the bottom.

Partysaurus Rex: New High-Res Stills

Two pics from the upcoming Pixar short film, Partysaurus Rex, were released online the other day, and were brought to us in good ol' high-resolution. Everyone loves a great image that you can zoom in on without it getting pixelated, am I right?

The first of the two new stills (pictured above) showcases a handful of Bonnie's bathtub toys, surrounded by heaps of foamy bubbles. These new toys fit right in the vibrant and colorful Toy Story universe.

The second features the majority of Bonnie's toys all in a circle formation, excluding Mr. Potato Head and Rex, the star of the short, who are both in the middle. Maybe Potato Head is giving the timid tyrannosaurus a little talking-to. After all, the walking tater does have quite a mouth on him - but luckily it's removable.

This second image has been my desktop wallpaper for the past couple of days.

New 'Partysaurus Rex' Clip

A 40-second clip from the new Toy Story Toon has been posted onto the official Disney/Pixar YouTube channel.

This short sneak peek at Partysaurus Rex sets the stage for what we can expect to see in the new Toon. Rex, wanting to shake up his reputation a little bit, helps the bathtub toys (who all lack arms and limbs) get their "party" started by filling up the tub with water and, of course, bubbles! The dried-out bathtub quickly becomes the stage for a bright, loud, and colorful bubble-filled rave! Watch the exhilarating clip below.

I'm already loving the sound of BT's score for the short, and cannot wait to see it in action next month when the new Toon arrives with Nemo 3D. Speaking of Finding Nemo, the starfish seen jumping into the tub in the clip has striking resemblance to Peach the starfish.

This short film also happens to be the second Pixar short scored by Grammy-nominated musician BT, who previously did the music for Tokyo Mater.

First Glimpse: Toy Story Toon 'Partysaurus Rex'

Some rumors had been going around lately about a new entry into the Toy Story Toons series entitled Partysaurus Rex. On Thursday, Entertainment Weekly debuted two exclusive images from the new short film, which will play in theaters in front of Finding Nemo 3D.

This will mark the third of the Toy Story Toons, after Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry, and will focus mainly on the lovable and not-so-fearsome dinosaur from the films, Rex. Wallace Shawn, who voiced the character in all three films and the first two Toons, explains that Rex is "sick of being the angel of goodness and sensibleness and caution and fear".

It sure looks like this is going to be an extremely bright, colorful, and bubbly short film, as we get to see what bathtime is like from a toy's point of view. Sounds superb.

Pixarian Mark Walsh will get his shot at directing a short with this new Toy Story Toon. "If you’re a bath toy you get really intense playtime. It’s like a party," he says.

As always, the amount of detail Pixar is putting into this new short is breathtaking. In the second image with Bonnie in the bathtub, you can even see a few of those classic hidden Easter eggs. The toilet seat cover does somewhat resemble a certain monster from a previous Pixar film...

Also, the decorations on the bathtub might be references to some of the fish from Finding Nemo. After all, Partysaurus Rex will be playing before Nemo 3D next month.
