After watching some of the Brave trailers, you've probably spotted a certain scene where Merida stumbles upon some mysterious looking stones, the ones seen in the picture above. They form a sort of circle, and are surprisingly tall.
Pixar didn't completely come up with these rock formations, as they are based on the real-life Stones of Callanish. Tourism for the area in which these stones are located is expected to sharply rise this summer when the movie hits theaters. Wouldn't you want to immerse yourself in the mystical world of Scotland and witness what Merida herself witnesses in the film?
The real-life Callanish Stones |
The filmmakers visited these Callanish Stones while they were on their research trip to Scotland for Brave. According to this article, Brave producer Katherine Sarafian says the tall rocks are “a very powerful setting for the kind of things we want to have happen in the story”.
We are yet to find out what these mystical standing stones will have to do with the storyline, but we can be sure of one thing: Brave will be mighty awesome.

Although I am in my 50's, I found this movie wonderful. It is so moving and shows how the relationship between the queen and the princess changes (for the better).
Although I am in my 50's, I found this movie to be fantastic. The princess reminds me a little of Jane in Jane and the Dragon. It is so touching how the relationship of the mother and her daughter changes (for the better). I almost cried when the queen did not turn back right away. You could feel the pain the princess felt for causing all their pain. It is also very funny.
